The Thrush Avenue Neighborhood Association

The Thrush Avenue Neighborhood Association was started in 2025 to help build community within the neighborhood and connect the street with available resources.

This year we have been awarded a mini-grant that will provide our community with lawn care items.  The goal is to help beautiful the block, including abandoned properties.  We have garden boxes and plants available and will assist those who want to create backyard gardens, as the price of food continues to rise.

We also continue to make connections between our neighbors, especially the children.  When our children know each other, they will learn to feel safe and connected in community.

If you would like to participate, reach out to us through our email [email protected]

Remember to always
Love Your Neighborhood!

The FOURTH OF JULY MEETING AND BBQ was a great success.

Our second official association meeting was held at 800 W. Thrush to connect and share some BBQ for the 4th of July.

Eating double cheeseburgers with our younger neighbors, and our Thrush Ave Lawn Crew, the day was one of connection and community.  Some of us tie dyed shirts and some of us simply chatted about how we will make this neighborhood great.  We all agree, to connect with our vulnerable youth is a primary goal.  Together we will create the atmosphere of loving connection.

If you missed us, don't be shy, come by 800 W. Thrush, or give us a call any time.  Abigail  (309) 214-6388

Continue to keep your eye out for our green signs to keep up to date on our activities. Or even volunteer to put one in your yard.

Love thy Neighborhood!

Lawn Crew Notes - Love Thy Neighborhood

The Neighborhood Association has now created two Lawn Crews.  We have received moneys for mowers, trimmers, and lawn care equiptment.  Currently we have purchased 2 trimmers and 3 mowers and have 6 teenage youth who will mow your lawn for a small fee of 20$.  If you are in financial distress, please contact us, or let the crew know, and we can take care of you.

Be on the look out for them every Monday and Thursday.

Keep your eyes out for their one of a kind T-shirt designs.  They may even have a tie-dyed one!

Many of our lawn are courtesy lawns. This neighbor had her mower break, and physical limitations stopped her from being able to mow. Our crew took action and cleaned up the yard for free <3. Now that's being a good neighbor.
