Now if you know me, I love to forage. I want my lawn to be all low growing edibles. I remember when my friend laughed out loud as I cheered for the creeping charlie to take over my front lawn. But seriously, there is a nutrition gold-mine out there. Forget the medicine cabinet, turn to the front lawn.
There are a couple plants I consider weeds (which is by definition a plant growing where you do not want it), and one of those is poison ivy. I have worked hard to get rid of it in my yard, and in the neighborhood, but it keeps popping up in new places. This year it took a little journey across Tammy's front steps. So we got out our gear and started pulling. I don't like to poison the ground, but I make the exception with poison ivy. Looking around the house for poison I came across an old bottle of "Eliminator". My jaw dropped. How depressing. All of the plants pictured are my favorite of all forageables. Dandilion, chickweed, henbit, red clover, purslane!!! What a delicious salad on this bottle and someone wants to pour poison all over it. I am crying inside. I am so used to people thinking I am an odd one, when really the truth is that poisoning the soil and water supply while killing off the most nutritious plants with poison are truly crazy.
